Arunachal Pradesh could soon witness a major tourism and hospitality development with plans for an 18-hole international-standard golf course. A group of golf enthusiasts has prepared a blueprint for the proposed project, which is estimated to involve an investment of around ₹400 crore and is aimed at creating a new tourism and business attraction in the state.
The proposed development is expected to cover around 100 acres and include not just the golf course but also supporting hospitality and recreational facilities. Plans reportedly include a resort, clubhouse, swimming pool and accommodation facilities, creating an integrated destination for visitors and golf enthusiasts.
The project is also being envisioned as a way to strengthen golf tourism in Arunachal Pradesh and attract visitors from across India as well as international markets. The proponents have identified countries such as Japan and South Korea as potential markets, given the interest in golf tourism in these regions.
Beyond the sporting aspect, the proposed golf course could have wider implications for the state's hospitality, tourism, infrastructure and service sectors. A project of this scale could generate demand for accommodation, food and beverage services, transportation, local tourism activities and other businesses connected to the visitor economy.
For Arunachal Pradesh, the development comes amid growing efforts to expand tourism beyond conventional destinations and create new experiences capable of attracting higher-value visitors. A professionally developed golf destination could potentially complement the state's existing natural and adventure tourism offerings.
However, the project is still at the planning stage, and the proposed development would require the necessary government approvals and clearances before construction can begin.
