The Assam Cabinet has given the go-ahead for the allocation of 504 bighas of land in Hajo Revenue Circle, Kamrup, for the development of a new industrial estate. The move is expected to expand the district’s industrial infrastructure and provide additional land for businesses and industrial activities.
The proposed estate will add to Kamrup’s existing network of industrial and commercial zones, which includes areas such as Amingaon, Chaygaon, Rangia, Rani and Hajo. With another large land parcel being brought into the industrial framework, the initiative could create more room for enterprises looking to establish or expand their operations in the district.
The development is part of Assam’s broader efforts to strengthen its industrial infrastructure and create an environment that can accommodate greater business activity. Dedicated industrial estates can provide companies with access to organised land and supporting infrastructure, making it easier for businesses to set up and scale their operations.
For Kamrup, the addition of a new industrial estate could further strengthen the district’s position as an important centre for commercial and industrial activity. It also creates scope for attracting new enterprises and expanding the existing industrial base.
The Industries and Commerce Department of the Government of Assam will oversee matters related to industrial infrastructure and land management associated with the state’s industrial development.
The approval of the Hajo industrial estate marks another step towards expanding the availability of industrial land in Assam and supporting the state’s longer-term plans for business and industrial growth.
