Arunachal Pradesh's picturesque town of Tawang is preparing to host the 14th International Tourism Mart (ITM) 2026, scheduled to take place in the final week of October 2026. The event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, is expected to showcase the state's growing tourism potential on both national and international platforms.
To kick-start the preparations, a comprehensive coordination meeting was held at Tawang Circuit House, bringing together officials from the Union Ministry of Tourism, the state tourism department, district administration, tourism stakeholders, and event management agencies. The meeting focused on ensuring smooth execution of the event by reviewing accommodation facilities, transportation, security measures, venue arrangements, hospitality services, and the overall event roadmap.
As part of the planning process, officials also inspected the Guwahati–Tawang corridor and assessed the readiness of key venues, including Vivanta Tawang and Kalawangpo Convention Hall, along with other supporting infrastructure. The inspections were aimed at ensuring that the district is fully equipped to host delegates and visitors from across the country and abroad.
The upcoming edition of the International Tourism Mart marks a significant milestone for Tawang, which last hosted the prestigious tourism event in 2013. The 2026 edition is expected to draw participation from tourism boards, travel operators, investors, policymakers, media representatives, and industry leaders, creating valuable networking and business opportunities.
Beyond promoting tourism, the event is expected to highlight Tawang's breathtaking Himalayan scenery, rich Buddhist traditions, colourful Monpa heritage, and its expanding adventure and eco-tourism offerings. The International Tourism Mart is also anticipated to strengthen Arunachal Pradesh's tourism ecosystem, encourage investment, generate employment, and contribute to the region's long-term economic growth.
