Meghalaya is set to receive a major infrastructure boost with Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan laying the foundation stones for five projects worth more than ₹1,010 crore across key sectors of the state.
The projects span water supply, roads, healthcare and power infrastructure, reflecting a broad push towards strengthening essential services and improving the state’s development capacity. The investment is expected to support both public infrastructure and long-term economic activity in Meghalaya.
Among the major initiatives is the New Shillong Water Supply Scheme, which accounts for a substantial portion of the overall investment. The project is aimed at addressing the growing water requirements of Shillong and surrounding areas while improving the reliability of water supply infrastructure.
